Roadmenders, Northampton (17/8/01)
..Witness, who opened were quite tight as a
unit, the lead guitarist (funny
hair, can't remember his name) was playing two instruments throughout most
songs, suddenly leaping from the keyboards into a bluesy solo on the guitar
which remained strapped to him throughout. Both the guitarists had a weird
mechanism which they applied to the strings of the guitars in order which
made them vibrate very fast, creating a thick, dark humming sound. nice
effect.
the lead guy (no resemblence at all to mcCabe, i'm sorry Val)! had a really
nice voice but it was quite light.
After a while, the songs sounded too similar. I read some of the lyrics
before i left and they sounded really blissful and provoking, in a nice way.
I sense their big break is yet to come. (under a sun peaked at no.66 or
something).
